Probably not: The traditional approach to TMJ surgery utilizes the same exact incision used for face lifts, so the incision and healing are very cosmetic in nature and usually don't heal with much scarring at all.

Maybe, probably: It depends on what operation you are having. If it's arthroscopy, this leaves a very small puncture wound that heals with minimal to no scarring. If you're having an arthrotomy or an arthroplasty, you'll have an incision in front of your ear. This will still heal very nicely with a fine linear scar.

TMJ Surgery Scar?: Arthroscopy will leave a 1/4 inch non-detectable scar in front of your ear. Open TMJ surgery will leave a larger scar in the groove in front of your ear. Same scar as the upper part of a facelift scar, not usually detectable to the casual observer.
