A member asked:

I have hard and dry stools despite tripling my fiber intake (wh grain, metam, flaxsd). but laxatives do provide relief. could it still be cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not cancer: hard stools suggest that small bowel content resides in colon long periods absorbing out all fluid. Not necessary to over use fiber intake. Rather normal diet and use of stool softener like Colace (docusate sodium) should be tried. On occasion Fleets enema could be of value.
