Any reliable blood test for ovarian cancer?

CA-125 test.: The best blood test is a ca-125 but it is not totally specific. Other tests, like pelvic exam, and transvaginal ultrasound would be needed. The ultimate way to know is surgery to see if it is in fact, a tumor of something else.

NO: There is no good / reliable blood test for ovarian cancer as a screening test. However, if you have ovarian cancer , a cancer marker- ca-125, in majority times is elevated in ovarian cancer and this can be used to monitor response to treatment.

Non: The blood marker for ovarian cancer is CA 125. This represents a carbohydrate marker that is seen in ovarian cancer as well as inflammatory disorders involving the liver. FDA has determined that this marker can only be used for monitoring response one the diagnosis of ovarian cancer has been made. In treating ovarian cancer if this marker goes up or down it is a reflection of treatment response
