Yes: It actually takes about 20-40 ejaculations after the vasectomy is done before your spouse is sterile and then the failure rate is about 1%. Someone should have told you to use back up until that number of ejaculations was complete and he performed a post procedure semen analysis.

Gas: this sounds more like intestinal gas than pregnancy. You usually do not feel fetal movement until 15-17 weeks of pregnancy. If you have missed a period you can always check a pregnancy test to make sure.
