I'll say "typical": It sounds like you may have started your new oral contraceptive pill pack too soon. You should begin your new pack on the Sunday after you start your period or after 7 days of taking inactive pills. If you start too soon, you throw off the hormones and getting unpredictable spotting would be expected. Not unusual to get a yeast infection with period. All sounds ok; reread instructions on pill use

Spotting is normal: after starting a new hormonal birth control method. But the itching and discharge sound more like a yeast infection. The change in your hormones around your period can cause a yeast infection. This can be treated with over the counter vaginal yeast creams. But if you don't improve, you should get tested for other infections.
