Vaginal odor: The most common cause of vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis. This is a nonsexually transmitted vaginal overgrowth of normal baceteria. The only way to determine the cause of the smell is with testing

Ammonia smell can be present in vaginal discharge if there is a disruption in the normal bacterial flora of the vagina, like bacterial vaginosis. See a doctor to have vaginal swab for diagnosis. Urine leakage would also be a consideration, but I assume you would be more aware of a urine leakage by having the sensation of urine loss and the wet underwear.
