Not unusual: Withdrawal symptoms from quitting tobacco often include flu like symptoms such as sore throat.

Yes!: Someone once explained it as the throat getting used to tobacco smoke irritating it and that its like "itching" to get scratched!! CONGRATS and KUDOS on QUITTING ! Keep it up! Dr Z

Surprisingly, yes!: First, congratulations! You have made one of the most important decisions for good health & are following through on it! The physical symptoms people feel after quitting cigarettes are uncomfortable & often include tingling, sweating, nausea, headache. But sore throat, cough, other respiratory symptoms are common as your lungs return to normal and start to clear. It will improve soon. Best wishes
