Different drugs: Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) Remeron &amitriptyline can all have the side effect of sedation & each is sometimes prescribed for use as as sleep aid rather than their primary clinical benefit for allergy related symptoms ( Benadryl) & antidepressant (Remeron & Amitriptyline ). But they are differ in how they are constructed chemically or in the way they work . You & your doctor can decide which medivine may be best.
