Of course: smoking over time causes damage to inner mucosa and cilia of your airways which precipitates into emphysema and obstructive lung disease, hence mucous accultation , infection, hyoxemia, cardiovascular stress. First quit smoking, try Guafenisin and Bronchodilator to reduce mucous. You may need short term antibiotics. See your Doctor to guide you and help you. But first decide to QUIT smoking.

YES! STOP NOW!!!: Smoking increases risk of heart disease & stroke 2-4 times, risk of lung cancer 25 times, risk of chronic lung disease 12 times & increases risk of many other cancers. Smoking reduces average life expectancy at least 10 years & often causes death much earlier. I think that's a LOT to be worried about! Stopping is the best thing you can do for your health. As for phlegm,if you stop it should go away.

Yes, there is: ANYBODY who is a smoker has something to worry about. If you are chronically producing mucus (phlegm) that is an indication that the smoking is causing inflammation in your air passages, which is the beginning of chronic bronchitis and emphysema. See your doctor and please quit smoking.
