PossibleMuscularPain: It seems like Muscular pain because she hurts when coughing and bending You can try some over the counter pain meds like Ibuprophen od Alleve if she is not allergic to these meds and does not have a stomach ulcer If pain persist consult your Pediatrician as she may need Muscle Relaxants after evauation and prescription meds.She will need examination and if indicated she may need Xrays etc

Rib/vertebral dysf: Sounds like rib or vertebral dysfunction.Must rule out lung or other serious problem, but key may be pain w/bending.Ribs/vertebrae can get 'locked' for seemingly no reason-even during sleep & hurt w/coughing or certain movements.A good history & physical incl hands-on osteopathic exam may be the best way to find the cause.Osteopathic manipulation can free them & relieve the pain.
