A member asked:

Is it absolutely medically necessary to wait the full 6wks after having a baby to have sex? just curious.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: depending on the type of delivery you do not have to wait 6 weeks. With cesarean sections, you can resume sex within 2 weeks. A normal vaginal delivery with no lacerations or episiotomy and no issues, sex can resume at 2 weeks or as felt appropriate
