Valsalva helps: This is dysfunction of eustacean tube that equalizes pressure between outside and inside of ear drum. Can try yawning, moving jaw back and forth, swallowing, chewing gum, massaging from back of ear forward down jaw/throat, or gently blowing out with nose pinched. Decongestants and nasal sprays are sometimes helpful. If severe or longlasting prednisone is sometimes used.
