Knee pain: If you knee is falling asleep, it sound like a nerve is getting pressure on it. I do not know the extent of your prior knee injury, but possible your injury could have led to some dysfunction where you are getting pressure on a nerve. I would talk to the doctor who saw your for your initial injury.

Nerve: It appears that you also injured some superficial nerves which can cause patchy numbness. A neurologist could pinpoint the cause of this sensory symptom for you. Of course if the whole leg is affected the knee injury may not have been the cause but the neurologist will diagnose the problem in that case.
