My fiance recently got an iud and i was wondering if this could cause damage to her uterus or or pose any future birth defects to future children?

Unlikely: IUDs are safe. Very rarely a woman will become pregnant with 1 in place and it needs to be removed with a small risk for loss of the pregnancy. All the best.
