Need pulmonologist: Breathing treatment is to relieve broncho spasm which is manifested as wheezing or dry cough. He has already received Z-pack twice & a shot of penicillin will not help, may need an antibiotic which covers different bacteriae. Respiratory infections can run a protracted course in some. Need to get chest x-ray & further necessary tests. See a pulmonologist Oil of oregano 2-3 drops twice daily.

Workup/Mgt: There are many conditions which can cause a prolonged cough. These include asthma, sinus infections and reflux/aspiration. In addition to checking for these, I would also recommend avoiding smoke and a TB test. Most bronchitis infections are viral and are therefore not treated with antibiotics. If he has prolonged wheezing and dry cough, albuterol/inhaled or oral steroids are indicated.
