Why does hypoglycemia cause mental confusion in diabetes?

Brain cells stop: Most cells can use several sources for energy needs; brain cells can only use glucose. When there is not enough glucose in the fluid around the brain, the brain cells lack the energy to function normally and so stop working properly, and confusion results.
