Bone infection: Osteonecrosis of the maxilla or mandible is a site of infection of the bone. It can be an area were a tooth has been removed and new bone never filled in the site and the area remained open allowing bacteria to get into the site. This is something that dentist must be aware of in women who have taken med's for bone density (bio phosphates ). These areas after tooth is removed likely to dev osteone.
