URI: This upper respiratory tract infection is consistent with a viral infection and should run its course in several days. Hoarseness could be from irritating cough or in infection moving lower down the respiratory tract. Your pharmacist can recommend a soothing DM type of cough syrup. See your physician if symptoms don't gradually improve or worsen.
