Neonatal Jaundice: Indirect hyperbilirubinemia is not limited to infant of diabetic moms. It is a function of the newborn being relatively ineffective at clearing old red blood cells. It can be caused by high rbc count (polycythemia) which is common in infant of diabetic moms. Also, many other causes. Easily treated and common in the newborn period.
