No, this is not: from an infection. It is caused by hair follicles becoming blocked and then inflamed.The exact cause is not known, but genetics, smoking and excess weight may contribute. Antibiotics are sometimes prescribed to stop an infection from occurring and making it worse. Warm compresses, drainage of the areas by a specialist and acetaminophen may help with pain, without NSAIDS.

Hidradenitis.: Hidradenitis suppurativa is a bacterial infection. A rather stubborn one at that. May respond to a combination of antibiotics (Augmentin and Cipro, assuming you’re not allergic to them). In some cases surgical excision of the infected glands is necessary. NSAIDs will offer you no curative benefit.
