Smell: Wow. That can be very frustrating. The causes are too numerous to be just one thing and are commonly multi factorial. Disturbances in olfaction can result from pathologic processes at any level along the olfactory pathway. The most common causes are allergies, nasal trauma, sinus disease, viral infections, brain trauma or mass. Your history and physical is very important. Especially your history.
