Ingrown hair?: Are you sure it is a lymph node? An ingrown hair causing an abscess can cause a lump in an armpit. If it truly is a lymph node, then the nodes in the armpit drain the arm and the breast and superficial chest. Any infection or disease in those areas can cause a swollen node. If it doesn't continue to improve, you should see a doctor.
