Not required: Defibrillation is only performed as an emergency when the heart has ventricular fibrillation. This can (rarely) happen on induction for anesthesia for any surgery. If a patient has atrial fibrillation during surgery, they may want to "cardiovert" to regular rhythm post op but it is not required I do not think you have the right info.
