A member asked:

Why might an embolus in the small intestine cause bilious emesis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bowel ischemia: embolus to small intestine is life threatening due to ischemia that occurs. Bilious emesis occurs because the bowel stops working normally. Bile comes up instead of going down.
