Uncontrolled BP: There could be many reasons for poorly controlled hypertension. It could be something as simple as poor dietary compliance (low salt diet) or there could be medical conditions leading to refractory hypertension. Working closely with your nephrologist or hypertension specialist is recommended.

BP CAN be controlled: Either you are not on the right combo of meds or you have a secondary cause of HTN. Common causes are renal artery stenosis, excess alcohol use, and sleep apnea. Meds should be carefully and methodically adjusted and secondary causes evaluated if reduction in BP is not seen. You should be evaluated for end organ damage which can bee seen with longstanding uncontrolled blood pressure.
