Why is 540nm chosen as the wavelength for the quantification of hemoglobin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absorption peak: This is one of the peaks for oxygenated hemoglobin. The other is 576. There are probably fewer common interfering substances at the greener end rather than the bluer end. I trust you understand this; if you don't, there are some good textbooks out there.
