Why don't we bleed to death when we get a bad cut or scrape?

Bleeding: Death could occur if someone had an uncontrolled arterial hemorrhage. Often veins or smaller vessels are cut. Clotting of blood allows blood to stop flowing out of the body. Sometimes pressure or surgical intervention is required to stop bleeding.
