Metabolic changes: all of the antipsychotics have the potential to alter gluclse metabolis, create weight gain and increase blood pressure. patients on these meds need to be under medical supervision and have regular monitoring. these can be great medicines as long as they are used wisely

Saphris (asenapine): like most atypical antipsychotics can cause increased blood sugar level, increased lipids, increased appetite and these things can contribute to weight gain.
