Why does maintaining good posture hurt my back?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Tariq Niazi
42 years experience in Orthopedic Surgery
Because of weakness: of the muscles mainly. U probably have had a bad posture all your life and now when you are trying to improve it, The muscles on the affected side will need to be strengthened, so as to be able to maintain the Correct posture. So early on for several weeks, till the muscles get stronger, you will experience some discomfort and pain. Secret of Success is to continue and do not stop exercises. GL.
