A member asked:

Why are ketone levels in urine tests so high when you don't fast before the test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not so: Usually skipping a few meals produces mild ketonuria, and non-fasting isn't a problem here. Is there a misunderstanding? High ketone levels have a variety of causes, most importantly diabetic ketoacidosis and aspirin poisoning.
