Diabetes discovered: Good question! First noted in 1889. Please go to "www.news-medical.net/health/History of Diabetes.aspx" When I was 8 years old my father left for work early and it was left to me to help Mom with her diabetes. In those days diabetes was monitored by putting a dipstick in the urine and see what color came on the dipstick. It meant nothing because the dose of insulin was never changed. Not fun!
