Depends on surgeon: I tell my patients that I don't want them increasing the intra-abdominal pressure significantly for 6 wks postop to reduce the risk of getting a hernia at an incision. Push ups and sit ups do that, as does running and lifting more than 20 lbs. Some patients listen, some don't. It's a personal choice.
