A member asked:

What medicine do they put you on if you have a thyroid problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on Problem: Medicines for thyroid depend on what the problem is. Mainly in Hypothyoidism in which not enough Hormone is being produced. We use synthetic thyroid Hormone If it is producing too much hormone,we call it Hyperthyroidism which can cause tremors and rapid heart beat.We use Beta Blocker like Inderal (propranolol) and use Antithyroid Meds like Methimazole or propylthiouracil. And can treat with Radioactive IODINE
