Not covered: by most insurance and Medicare as a screening tool. Not as accurate as a colonoscopy. requires a bowel prep also like a colonoscopy and is only diagnostic that is, can say you have a possible polyp. A colonoscopy can identify the polyps and remove them at the same time. Colonoscopy is still the gold standard in my opinion

Focus on GI tract.: While the initial pictures may reveal general findings within the abdomen and pelvis, the study is geared towards the computer-generated reconstruction of the large intestines to create the "virtual colonoscopy". This rendering is reviewed by the radiologist. Prep is still required to optimize the pictures, and it tends to miss very small polyps.
