Depends: Back problems are very common, it is estimated that 60-80 percent of Americans have back problems bad enough that they seek medical care. Thankfully, the natural history of many cases is very benign. If your problem is mild, you can self treat with rest, exercises, maintaining good body weight, etc. if severe, don't hesitate to be evaluated.
