Freud: Freud was an MD, and started his career as a neurologist, before developing his seminal theories of psychoanalysis. I would say nor only some of Freud's theories, but the psychoanalytic theories that have developed since then to the present time have importance to the medical community, most notable in psychiatry and psychology.
