Is risperidone better tolerated over time?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Edward Kuhnley
44 years experience in Child Psychiatry
Medication including: Risperidone is better tolerated over time as the body develops ability to deal with it. Some individuals do not develop ability to tolerate certain medications in which case review with the prescriber is necessary to determine reason and possible alternative medication. Adjustments can be made to improve tolerability to some side effects (e.g., shift to bedtime if sedation occurs). Best regards.

Usually: The initial effects of this drug class includes sedation. However, with long term use, this subsides unless the dose is changed (increased).
