Higher risk group: ONLY as a population-based screen, not suggesting any personal life-choice issues, men who have sex with men are more likely to have certain stds, including hepatitis and hiv, which can be transmitted by blood and MIGHT be missed by testing if at an early stage or lab error. So to keep blood supply as safe as possible, the entire group is excluded. Inroads starting with 12 month deferral.
