A doctor has provided 1 answer

Asthma control: It sounds like you have asthma. If you have symptoms--cough, wheeze, chest tightness or SOB--more than twice a week or wake up more than twice a month with these symptoms, then you need to be on a daily controller medication. Asthma symptoms may be worse at night due to body's natural variation in cortisol hormone production. You may also be exposed to your indoor allergens more at night.
