I have depression. i had an ischemic stroke 5 years ago. the depression started ~2 years ago. i had sta-mca surgery 3 years ago. anything i can do?

Yes: Depression- whether due directly from the stroke altering the brain's circuits that regulate emotion, or from a personal reaction to any limitations imposed by the stroke- can indeed be treated. Anti-depressant medications, mindfulness meditation, clinical hypnosis, psychotherapy (including CBT), healthy diet and as much aerobic exercise as allowed by the cardiologist, can all be very effective.

Depression: Have you been evaluated by a psychiatrist. Medications are sometimes indicated. Talking therapy to include Cognitive Behavioral therapy or psychotherapy can be effective. If you are able to exercise - do so. 8 hours of sleep per night & good nutrition w 5 servings of veggies & 4 of fruit per day. Consider meditation. Spend time with people you care about.
