Vague: Need history and exam. Was there any trauma involved- whiplash, facial, head or neck injury? It could be a sinus issue or some other ailment that needs attention. Get to a Dr. and be evaluated

Muscle spasm: Muscle spam can cause the neck pain you describe, even to the point of tenderness that appears to make the overlying skin sensitive to touch and pressure. Hope that helps.
