May be fatty liver: Fatty liver is very common, and most patients have no symptoms. However, the literature describes some pain associated with this condition. If a search for a cause of the pain is negative, you may have to consider fatty liver as the cause. Sometimes a swollen congested liver can cause pain because of stretching of the capsule. Ask your GI doctor which pain meds to take.
