It's not best RX: The best treatment for panic disorder is to prevent attacks with a combination of psychotherapy and antidepressant drugs, particularly SSRI/SNRI's like sertraline, citalopram, venlafaxine (and many others). Benzodiazepines produce tolerance, and over time the dose may need to be increased, and if they are stopped suddenly, a severe withdrawal can happen. Use of SSRIs regularly&benzos for attacks.
