A member asked:

I had gastric bypass 2 weeks ago would marijuana smoke do the same harm as cigarettes would to my new stomach?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not usually: tobacco smoke contains a number of substances that increase stomach acid and reduce the lower esophageal sphincter pressure, which increases reflux and esophagitis, while reducing the effectiveness of gastric mucous. Marijuana smoke does much less of this, but if you have had problems with peptic ulcer, gastritis or esophagitis, you are far better off not smoking ANYTHING.
