Who to believe?: No it is not a cyst, and sometimes MD's actually know what we are talking about as opposed to well meaning friends.

3 different issues: 1) Your doctor applied the vinegar to your cervix, because that will make the area, where the abnormal pap smear cells come from, stand out. 2) The cyst he was talking about was a Nabothian cyst, which has no significance whatsoever; 3) Abnormal pap smears come from an infection with human papilloma viruses (HPV), which are sexually transmitted; HPVs can also give rise to genital warts.
