A member asked:

Chance of hiv infection from sitting on a toilet seat with dried and or wet smeared blood with possible open cuts?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Zero: During the years in which there was no treatment, household contact NEVER led to infection. Barbara, what's really going on? Someone with open cuts on their bottom sits on a toilet seat smeared with WET blood? Even if this weren't bizarre and hugely improbable, a cut that's not actively bleeding is sealed with fibrin; a bleeding cut will wash virus away. Please get help with these fears.
