Zero: Your skin would have to be penetrated by a sharp instrument (assuming you don't have open sores) or the patient's blood would have to come into contact with your eye or mucus membrane, to have any chance of contracting hep. C or HIV from the exposure. In case of needlestick accident, you should have access to an emergency consultation with an infectious disease program for preventive HIV rx.
