I just found out that i'm 9 weeks pregnant. i'm freaking out because i've been on xanax (alprazolam) for anxiety this whole time. i've stopped taking it, but will my baby be damaged?!

Not likely: It is highly unlikely you hurt the baby, but Canax is category D and should not be taken during pregnancy, so it's good that you've stopped. You need to discus this with your OB, who might want to refer you to a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist to give you more in depth info on the risk.

How long: Xanax (alprazolam) will leave your system once you stop; however, it can take 3-4 months before clearing from your system. You will need to have regular HCG and ultrasound testing to ensure a healthy baby. It really depernds on how much, how long you have been taking it : low dose taken fewer times mild reduce any changes. Addiction levels are low and risk it always a possibility- be straight with your GYN .
