Category D: Xanax is a brand of alprazolam which is Category D (http://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/alprazolam.html). Talk to your Obstetrician and tell her/him. You may want to undergo closer monitoring although alprazolam has not been proven to cause congenital birth defects. It's guilty by association b/c there are concerns with benzodiazepine class of medications.
