Yes: Daily anti-anxiety medications like Escitalopram and Fluoxetine can take up to several weeks to take effect because the serum levels of the medications need to build up in your system to be most effective. I would give the medication some time to work. You should start to notice a gradual decrease in your anxiety and notice that your usual anxiety triggers do not affect you as much.

Possibilities: It often takes a week or so for these anxiety meds to start working efficiently. If after two weeks you are still feeling no relief, discuss the issue with your doctor. There are many anxiety mediators and you my need a different one. Exercise can also help, especially yoga and/or water aerobics.
